Download & Installation

For instructions on installing WordPress, see guide on How to install WordPress. To use the UCLA WordPress Theme and Plugin, we recommend the following:

  • PHP version 7.3 or higher
  • MySQL version 5.6 or higher
  • The latest version of WordPress

For Legacy environments, the theme and plugin will work for with PHP 5.6.20+ and MySQL 5.0+, however these versions are at their end-of-life and you may run the risk of security vulnerabilities.

Browser Support

This theme follows the WordPress.org browserlist configuration.

Theme & Plugin

Both the theme and plugin should be installed. Once WordPress is installed, set up, and you are logged in, download the installer and follow the instructions below.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the theme and plugin file of the distribution branch below and unzip the file.
  2. Zip the folder “ucla-wordpress” and “ucla-wordpress-plugin” separately.
  3. To install the theme, go to Appearance > Themes in the left hand menu of the WordPress Admin.
  4. Once on the Themes screen, click on the “Add New” button, upload the ucla-wordpress.zip you just created, and activate the new uploaded theme.
  5. To install the plugin, go to Plugins in the left hand menu of the WordPress Admin. Once on the Plugins screen, click on “Add New”, upload the ucla-wordpress-plugin.zip you created, and activate the plugin.

If you do not see the “Add New” buttons and you use Pantheon for web hosting, you may need to switch the Development Mode to SFTP on your Pantheon dashboard.
